Lake salt saltworks


China is a country of salt lakes. In the north, there are nearly one thousand salt lakes with an area of more than 1km2, starting from the Great Hinggan Mountains in the northeast and along the line of Yinshan Mountains, the eastern end of the Qilian Mountains and the northern part of the Gangdise Mountains. Qinghai, Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia [1] and Tibet are the four provinces and regions with the most concentrated distribution of salt lakes in China, and also the regions with relatively concentrated distribution of salt lakes in the world. Lake salt, as the main salt used in Northwest China, has developed rapidly in recent years. From January to August 2010, the production of lake salt in China was 6.42 million tons, with a year-on-year increase of 17.37%.
